I like the idea of Yes being yes and no being no. The whole false witness thing seems to be an easily broken commandment and I think people tend to see them as "white lies" or "Stretching the truth"

It is a sin and In Romans it says, "the wages of SIN is death" Notice it was singular (SIN) not plural (SINS)

The purpose of the law is to condemn us, so we long for the messiah. Some way to focus on the badness of lies in your group's everyday situations, and the goodness of Jesus' perfection may be useful? Perhaps a dramatic depiction of the results of what to many people seems a trivial sin?

When Jesus spoke about lies, his point was that they stop people from believing the truth: at the point when a liar tells a lie, he doesn't trust in God to be sufficient for whatever it is that he feels the lie will bring him. The real problem is that "false testimony" blocks joy. Perhaps a dramatic representation of the unseen consequences (mainly lack of intimacy with God, and distancing from God)of the sin will help the group understand its danger.

Great title for a sermon series, I might steal that idea or borrow it lol.

Courtroom theme you might have everyone stand up like they do when a judge comes in the room. Maybe have them stand when you have a prayer to God.

Also I was thinking TNT advertises Law and Order has drama, and you can talk about how much more drama comes in your life when you do lie.

Maybe in between segments you use the black screen with the date and time, with the dramatic sound in between sections of the sermon.

Just some thoughts.

I'd probably link that to what Jesus said about oaths (and let your yes be yes, your no be no), and talk about the virtue of honesty.
