I use Christianrock.net and then click on Power Praise very little commercials and if they are commercials they reflect scripture.

We try to keep a good variety of current music on the iPod and in our iTunes library on my laptop. We have subscribed to Interlinc to keep current stuff coming, though I don't know if we will continue this coming year due to budget cuts.

I typically ask a teen to be our DJ for the night, queuing tracks and taking requests. If I don't have someone, or if I want to be able to run a playlist without thinking, a lot of times I will take a look at Billboard's top 20 Christian singles http://tinyurl.com/rzbb3 and build a playlist from there.

I stick with the basic praise and worship songs to get their minds thinking toward youth group. Not against the other more rocky stuff, but they listen to the hard stuff all the time and I want the music at youth group to be a change for them and have them realize that music can be used to prepare hearts and minds to listen and learn to minister. Plus, we have some more conservative families who think even Chris Tomlin/Casting Crowns stuff is heavy! Can't please them all though.

I actually had a student make a good playlist for the beginnings of our nights, with a lot of high energy stuff. Part of this will depend on your context if you want more rock or more hip hop (though even in most suburbs hip hop is bigger...only the churches seem to push rock more).

For a relaxed feel, I highly recommend Monk and Neagle (or just Trent Monk's new stuff). Very good, and has the John Mayer/Jack Johnson type of feel.

Group 1 Crew I like...it's hip/hop but not KJ52 if you know what I mean...kind of like Black Eyed Peas....

Interlinc for me is expensive, but is a good way to find a variety of CDs...you just can't choose though....

I use interlink and therefore have those cd's loaded on the ipod. I generally try and have something upbeat playing to start (often times will let one of the youth pick out something) and then change it up depending on what were doing.

I try to keep it upbeat 2 start and slide in more worship style songs as we approach our lesson or etc. if were just doing games or speacial events i just keep it upbeat and fun. The basics Chris tomlin, passion worship band, casting crowns, A local group Crosswalk the band etc. you students can tell you their favs. I like to play from my i pod or mixed cds, change is good
