I would like to launch a Youth Ministry website, how do I do that?
I would like to launch a website for our youth ministry (a church ministry) and I want total control of it. I.e. I don't want it to have to look like my church's website, etc...

Tim launched a site just for you not too long ago. |

I use joomla, cause it's free, and I liked Tim's website a couple years ago. |

Another thing you can do is go the blogger route. They have some templates there, but you can change them up. You can change the format as well. Link it with a Picasa account and you can have online picture albums. Link it with your own youtube channel and you can upload and embed your own videos. Announcements are simple blog entries. |

I would also encourage you to check out snapshotweb.com. They offer some amazing resources for a youth ministry website. |

I have used yahoo for building my website in the past. Its a great way to start out for beginners. You can get ur own domain name through them and they also have a builder that makes it simple to put the page together.I believe they have site templates.another good thing is to check out what other youth ministries are doing.and you can get an idea on how to add certain things to your site that are free and are as easy as copy and pasting code. example would be tagboard. www.tag-board.com is a board you can put on your site so you can drop in messages to your kids or they can leave messages...and all it is just copy and paste...little things like that add neat and sometimes free interactivity |

I would echo Tim's suggestions (Wordpress is a great blog platform), but even more simply, you could try creating a Facebook page/group. It's a great way to connect as a group. |
