Girls' Ministry
My fiance' and I just recently came to a new church within the last 2 months and we are really about to just "start over" with the youth ministry at our church. He is the youth pastor and I really feel led to just pour into the girls, not only in our ministry but in the community. I am reading two books, both by Jimmie Davis, that have given me a lot of ideas for ministry and really helped prepare my heart for this ministry (I highly recommend them both!!): "Girls' Ministry Idea Book" & "Girls' Ministry Handbook." But anyway, I am just looking for some more ideas and input. What has worked, what hasn't, etc. What do your girls LOVE to do?! Thanks.

The girl small groups in our ministry often get together on a weekend and hang out together. We've found that they really don't care what they're doing together as long as they're just together. One lady had her small group over to help tear down wallpaper in her bathroom and the girls loved it! They wanna go back and do it again! :) Even if you just take a couple of them grocery shopping with you, you'll be surprised how much they'll enjoy just getting out of the house and spending time together doing absolutely anything. |

I have ministered to middle school age to graduating senior girls, from at-risk youth, to your 'normal' church girls. The biggest thing with any group of young people is to make sure you are present for them; not so much entering into a group with a set agenda. I have had the most success with small groups going in with little 'actual agenda' and all focus being on where the girls were at. Kids aren't so concerned about activities as they are going to be about whether you are really concerned about them; where they are at, and where they are going...they want to know that someone's going 'with' them. |

We don't have a specific girls ministry outside of separating small groups by gender. We do try to look for things that girls are interested in since most of them don't like video games or sports. We do board games, girls night out and stuff like that. |

My wife had them all, from 4th grade-seniors, over and watched Pride and Prejudice. Went all out, brought in the big screen, projector, soundsystem from church. They also did a study last school year once a week on HisGirl. This was just for 7-12. I have no idea what all they talked about cause that was her thing and her passion so I let her plan and do it, I just hooked everything up and asked what time to come home with our boys. It went extremely well. |
